5.75" headlamp rims

Post by Tim Neville »

I was interested to see a pair of n.o.s. 5.75" headlamp rims go for £157 on e-bay.
Anyone got an idea of how much it would cost to re-chrome an old pair to the highest standard?

Indeed!
It is true that an item is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay, but it is unfortunate for 'the masses', if values are so distorted.
I see there are repro Lucas 361/1 lamps available at £90 - I've looked closely at some and - oh dear!

For really quality chroming talk to Arthur at Prestige Electro plating, Unit 6, Cliffe St Industrial Estate, Mexborough,S64 9HU tel 01709 577004.
He likes Jowetts and he is not ridiculously expensive

Prestige Plating

I used them in my resto. When they were in Wombwell (or somewhere near)

Good results and not an arm and a leg.

Hello again Tom.

Perhaps you could recommend Arthur, your electroplating contact, in the Jowetteer, as many of us don't have a clue where to get this sort of thing done properly.

There are so many sob-stories about sub-standard results regarding plating, that to have someone recommended must be of benefit to members.

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Tony
I offered to mention him in the Jowetteer and he declined because he always has too much work waiting to be done.
He says he will not advertise which is a nice business in my book
