Re: Jupiter restorations.
David. Have you tried JCCA spares? Shipping to Aus could be a tad expensive.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
I have tried JCCA however they dont have one. Series 3 basically did not exist in OZ .
You can count the known series 3 cars on your left hand.
Shipping from UK does not seem that bad to me, my son & I regularly buy parts from UK.
He buys complete body panels for his Mini which after freight is still cheaper & quicker than local suppliers.
I buy mostly nuts & bolts as they have a better range than here.

Merry Xmas everyone. Attached is a jig I made to time my cam shaft, the vernier type I have is probably not the best for amateurs like me, as the ability to get it just right is tricky.I removed all the rocker arms barr number one inlet to stop the cam turning while I was trying to time the cam.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
Good morning, is the windage tray held down with bolts or studs?
Is the hole in the crankcase an oil return hole?
If so should it have a pipe?

Re: Jupiter restorations.
On another matter, you may notice my engine is now on the floor.
That is because the stand I made to hold it collapsed.
Fortunately my leg & hand were in the way so the engine is OK.
Leg is a bit cut up but ok , hand a bit cranky but OK, my dignity & credibility as an engine builder are in tatters,
My daughter was philosophical, saying, now it can't fall any further, so I have less chance of killing myself

Re: Jupiter restorations.
David,
The windage tray is normally retained with ¼" bolts, typically with spring washers under the head.
The hole that I assume you are referring to has a steel insert and is a jigging feature used to accurately locate the crankcase on the milling machine during manufacture. It is a blind hole and can be ignored during any normal rebuild situation.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
I dont have bolts for the radiator mount.
I am sure like most cars they would be shoulder bolts.
Can someone please give me the dimensions so i can make them
I do have the rubber's.

David,
The weight of the complete engine less the water pump, the dynamo, and the starter (which you can weigh separately and add on) is 250 lb. I don't have the weight for the gearbox.

While a long shoulder would be optimum, I can't recall any of the cars I have worked on using anything exotic.David Kemp wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 11:33 pm I dont have bolts for the radiator mount.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
I have done very little to my car as I have been helping my son finish his.
We put an engine & trans in his Mini only to find the trans does not work. Result we removed it & are now fitting his original engine which ran fine.
So the little I have done is buy new midship mounts , clean the fittings & paint.
These midship mounts seem an odd design to me.

The mis-ship mounts look correct to me. The engine mounting is a Javelin one.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
They look correct but the rubber needs to be of the correct specification to reduce vibration.
