Finally have my heads back, sadly the machine shop did not put on valve stem seals, as they said there was too little material to do so.
Any advice on this would be appreciated,
They also did not do the club mod on the cooling. I am now going to get another machine shop to finish it.

One of the issues I have had is getting a sump that does not leak or is too bent up.
I have been given a sump that required very little beating to straighten. As I am banned from using a hammer I had to find another
approach & my press worked beautifully. For those of you like me , who are hammer challenged, don't give up repairing your car just use our species best asset to thinking.

My 1st gearbox is now complete & oil tight, Seems to change smoothly when the shafts are rotating, I attached a cordless drill to the
Input shaft to test it & get the oil circulating.
I have flushed it out & will do so a few more times.
I am probably repeating myself but, read the rebuild notes carefully as some things were not intuitive. However if you can rebuild an engine you do have the skill for a gearbox.
Patience & the understanding that the gearbox as you received it, is not necessarily how it came out of the factory 70 years ago, is really needed.Don't run down the prior mechanics , as they probably were doing the best they could under their situation.
I had to keep comparing the 3 incomplete gearboxes I had, & the parts manual.
I skimmed the front bearing housing , placed a Vring seal to stop the spigot leaking. I also put a 7/8 core plug into the bell housing to stop leaks from the layshaft. Both simple & quick ideas.

This is the Meadows box. I started with the Jowett box, however I found it required more fettling to finish, so did the Meadows 1st.
Meadows seems a more standard box, the Jowett box seems to need more individual attention.

It is not clear to me what you did to the front bearing housing.

The front bearing housing is normally rough cast. I have machined it flat so the V Seal can push against it.

I have found a mint Jupiter steering wheel, does a Javelin horn push fit?
Does any one have the horn push with the yorkshire horn on it, & they wish to sell?

David - You have literally just missed the boat with the horn push - I have just sent the good spare that I held out to Scott Renner in the US in order for him to complete one of his restorations - I can keep my eyes peeled over here for you if you wish - on another note and currently racking my brain did you send an enquiry to me regarding the front suspension mounting eyes that fasten to the Jupiter chassis ? - Chris

It probably was me after the Eyes & I still need them. even a damaged one I can use as a pattern to have some made.

David - I'm currently having them made via Jowett Car Spares - I need one for my next client Jupiter restoration - we can easily scale up production to include a set for you - do you want me to advise on what type of price are likely to be - the alternative is for you to loan one from me (from one of my long term restoration projects) - Chris

David, Jowett Car Spares has now had the suspension eyes manufactured. We will sell them as a kit to include the eye, the spacer washer and a high tensile M12 bolt. I do not yet have a final price but something shy of £70.00GBP each. If that is interesting please can you send me your details? pjbeaumont@toucansurf.com.
