Allard has same bumper (fender)?

Post by Forumadmin »

Via the website I received this. Can anyone comment or is interested in getting bumpers made?
I have an Allard Palm Beach MK 1 and am told the bumpers are Jowett Javelin.Could you confirm this and do you know of or have any spares
Hi Julian,
Probably best if you send us an image of the bumpers required as there are a few variations on the Javelin. The club spares scheme only sells to members of the Jowett Car Club.  You may want to try your luck on the JowettTalk forum in the Cars and spares section. You will need to register to post a request.. I think you will find that only used ones are available though that require some fettling and rechroming. There was some discussion of getting some made , but I do not know what transpired
Keith,
Herewith the pics. Both bumpers are 59ins wide and 4ins deep. The starting handle hole may be a “giveaway”
many thanks for any help in identification/replacement
regards
Julian
My Javelin bumper front is 56.5 inches and rear is 58. The width is 4 inches. My rear bumper seems to have holes about in the same place.
I have successfully recovered quite damaged ones with fettling, braze and then re-chrome. They were certainly worse than yours!
However, the cost of doing such is not cheap and getting new ones made might be cheaper.
Perhaps a joint venture between the two clubs?

I will put this conversation on our forum.

Wow! Gosh I am impressed with your reaction!
I have been quoted by Ashford Chroming £560 for 2 bumpers and £220 for 4 over riders.
I don't know the market for Allard Palm Beach. They only made 73 and how many have
survived that require new bumpers must be small.
I will pass on your suggestion to the Allard Owners Club
Many thanks
