Tony, I think we have a fundamental difference in what you are keeping (useful stuff) and what we have kept (not useful stuff) - a cracked and worn tyre being kept "just in case" or a cracked exhaust manifold when we have at least 30 intact ones, compared to useful spares that fit the car and have a potential use in future.

But I agree, there are often things which come in very useful that might otherwise have gone to the tip. The game is in knowing which the useful bits are going to be :D

Like Craig,
I have these Michelin X tyres and they are absolutely superb, I also got mine from Longstone Tyres in Bawtrey.
There is plenty room under the wheel arches and they fit into the spare wheel hold easily.
The best bit is the wheel balance ,it is faultless but they are expensive but I will now buy another set for my other Jupiter
