Details of conversion are in JowettGallery and JowettTalk I think. Try searching. If you do not find then Drummond Black demonstrated at Gaydon JAW.

Which reminds me Drum, did you ever get chance to do the one I gave to you last year? My original one seems to be surviving, but one day ...
Thanks,

Re: Jupiter gear change column
G'dday from the Damp Sunny South,
I have converted a Javelin gearshift column to suit a Jupiter. This was some years ago and I think I wrote it up somewhere. Will have a look.
Main points are that, in both columns (inner and outer) alignment must be kept to ensure that the gear change lever and the selector change helix are in the correct relationship with the pivot housing for the hand lever assembly. Being just a small amount out of position will cause the gear lever to 'hang' in the incorrect attitude. This is critical!
I set up each column in vee blocks on a surface table and used a long straight edge to scribe a line along each component and, before bronze welding the extension pieces into place, took great care with the alignment of the long scribed lines. A long scribed line helps keep the alignment absolutely correct.
When it came to painting the outer column, I simply smoothed and putty-filled the line. That has been successful.
One point noticed since the conversion is that, when pulling the hand lever towards the steering wheel, it feels slightly heavier. Others who have driven the car have not yet commented on this.
I will see if I can find what I wrote and post it.
Best wishes to all of you,
Mike Allfrey - E0 SA 42R.
