Where can I find Triumph Cherry Red for my 8 HP

Post by PaulB »

Hi Guy's,

Does anybody in the club know where I can get my hands on a tin of Triumph Cherry Red spry paint.

I've looked and I keep looking for touch up paint for the 8 hp Saloon. But sadly I can't find the correct colour. And wondered whether somebody here may be able to help.

Cheers

Automotive paint suppliers are able to mix up matching colours
Many now use computor matching, but unless the paint is modern 2 pots after a few days the paint will not match
A few automtove paint suppliers and paint shops have old school guys who are very talented at colour matching...make allowances for fade over time

Before touching up or using any touch up paint , test a small spot, and assess after a week before doing any serious work

I assume that we are talking straight colours and no clears???

Hello Paul.

Perhaps the Triumph Owners Club website might be of help.

You could always contact one of their officers. I'm sure they'll be just as obliging as our Jowett ones.

I went to look at my sprays and have a 1/4 full cherry red, but it's Peugot.

I bought it (on a car boot sale - 20p) to spray the UNF spanners and sockets so that I can differentiate them from BSF/Whit (green) and Metric (yellow) when sorting them.

Are you coming up to the Bradford Ex-employees meeting next Saturday? I could bring it for you to look at. Let me know.

Tony.

Thanks for the offer Tony,

But I will be a Tatton Park Classic Car Show with the 8 and the Jav on both day's. Other wise I would have come up.

Since posting this question. I have now been able to find the source code and Triumph code for that paint. I have been on the Triumph OC web site, but unfortunately they do not have any.

I have a number of tiny scratches which I would like to touch up. Maybe I'll find a tin at Tatton this week-end.

Thanks again.

Paul.

Paul, if you know the original Triumph reference, Halfords should be able to mix it for you and supply it in an Aerosol. I have only one experience of the service, but on an obsolete Subaru green metallic they were spot on!
