I Remember When .........

Why not tell us about your car (start with a picture) and say what you have done with it; either restoring or using it over the years. Restoration of particular parts is of special interest. Club members can have their space on in their Personal Album to do this.

Hi all

My first post to the Jowett forum.

I joined the forum out of pure nostalgia. I'm now 55 but when I was a kid, my father used to own a Jowett Javelin. I can just about picture it now. However, my overriding memory is of the dreadful headaches we used to get after a journey!! My guess is we were all suffering with the inhalation of exhaust fumes :)

Hi John,

I am the club Librarian and enjoyed reading about your Dad's Javelin.
I was wondering if you had a photo of it or could remember its registration number, as I would love to know if it is still arround. Sorry to be late in replying, I am catching up on my reading!

Your interest in the forum: From 1962 to '63, CA Bradord LLG 125 (Repaired and used).
From 1966 to '67 Black deLuxe Javelin LDF 738 (Scrapped with broken chassis)
From 1967 to '87 Black de Luxe Javelin MKC 1 (later 6469TU). (Sold as non-runner with tons of spares, 1987)
From about 1980 to '87 ex WD Jowett stationary engine. (Sold on)
From 1966 to present, 1930 Long Four Fabric Saloon, Dark Blue / Black.
Taken in a part-repaired state to the 2010 Centenary Rally, returned to a roadworthy state by 2013.

Welcome aboard!

There are several Javelins in the South Wales area as well as various other models.

Watch this site for details of forthcoming events, to which I am sure you would be very welcome - even without a Jowett to show off!

Better still, 'sign up' for the club and get regular newsletters of general Jowett interest. It is sometimes surprising what a casual comment can turn up in the way of information and recollections.

All very interesting.

My father was a 'time served' engineer by trade and was brilliant with cars. In the little village where I lived, in fact in the small 'close', there were 3 Jowett Javelins and my father took it upon himself to be the Jowett garage :)

I'm quite certain my father's Javelin was green, my brother confirmed this and he's presently wracking his brains trying to remember the registration number.

My father was always a car fan but never had much money. I think I've continued the tradition. My current daily drive is an Ariel Atom - at 56, you would be excused for thinking me a bit mad :)
