CELEBRATORY PARADE and SHOW in FEILDING, NZ

Why not tell us about your car (start with a picture) and say what you have done with it; either restoring or using it over the years. Restoration of particular parts is of special interest. Club members can have their space on in their Personal Album to do this.

CELEBRATORY PARADE and SHOW in FEILDING, NZ

Post by Leo Bolter »

Today several Jowetteers had a great day helping the Motor trade Association of NZ celebrate their 90th anniversary of the founding of their association in the town.

The assembly point for the "chosen ones" was at the Feilding Motor Racing Circuit and Show Centre called Manfield Park utilising one of the service roads (http://www.manfeild.co.nz/circuit.asp).

There was a closing off of several of the central shopping area streets through which the parade slowly made its way to the town square. A large portion of the square was made available to park the cars to enable the public to wander about reminiscing about the "old days" when most of New Zealand's cars came from the United Kingdom and a few from the USA and Aussie!

Interestingly, although the parade was open to ALL cars, there was just a smattering of cars from the European Continent , from The United States of America and from Australia, but I don't recollect seeing any from Asia at all . . . . there was though, many "Pommie" voices in the crowd in the square, getting their dose of nostalgia! Nowadays almost every modern vehicle is from some part of Asia

Anyway . . if you'd care to, go to: http://nick.idleplay.net/gallery2/main. ... emId=17715(Edited: June 2009) Sorry, this site no longer exists. I'll set up an alternative soon.
to see the line-up at the assembly point, a couple of pictures taken during the Parade, some of the cars parked up and a 180 degree panorama picture.

No! . . there's NOT a competition and a prize for you to guess the names of the models in the "FULL FRONTAL" pictures, but come to think about it it sounds like it would be fun for people to post their thoughts . . . . . NOW THAT'S GOT YOU INTERESTED, I'll bet!!!!

Cheers, Leo
