pre-1918 Jowett in Aus

I am attempting to sell a very old restored 2 Cylinder Jowett. The wooden bodied car I think is pre 1918. The Jowett is the only one left in existence in Australia. The body was completely rebuilt about 10 years ago by Floods Body Builders who built the original body way back. The cast iron total loss lubricated motor runs well. It was re-bored and new pistons, rings and valves fitted. Along with the car are many spares parts (Some are new spares cast in zinc, brass or cast iron alloy from the old parts).

I can send photos if you or any members are interested in a trip down under to purchase a unique piece of Jowett history.

Norm, the father in law, was a fully qualified engineer and has assisted the museums in Australia with creating new pistons and other engine parts to enable the restoration of some very old cars and trucks including a 1908 Graham Dodge with a very large 20+ litre 4 cylinder Engine, Solid tyres and rear brakes only. This truck sold for over $40,000.00 to a Fire Museum.

All the vehicles restorations are done to a high standard. Most of his 10+ collection has been sold leaving just the Austin and the Jowett.

He also restored a 1898 steam driven Merryweather Horse draw pumper that is now in the museum.

The pre-war Jowett has been sold to Peter Jowett (no less). Detailed investigation at the 2006 JCCA National Rally proved that the car is in fact a 1926 Short 2 7hp roadster. It was one of 50 Jowetts present at the Rally in Armidale NSW (Australia) to celebrate the centenary of Jowett car construction and the 50th JCCA AGM. Andrew Henshall
