Supposedly Rover P2 had Girling mechanical brakes servo assisted.
Can any Rover owners confirm that?
If so was it a Girling servo? Or Rover servo like the Rolls Royce/ Hispano-Suiza type.

Re: Rover servo
The P2 range encompassed several specifications from 4 to 6 cylinders, and I cannot speak for the whole range, but having worked on a friends pre war 10hp, I didn't find much sophistication about the brakes, let alone a servo. Post war cars were fitted with Girling brakes ( not hydraulic) and I seem to remember reading maintenance literature that describes the twin leading shoe as having a servo action where there is a tendency for the shoes to pull on due to the rotation of the drum. Perhaps this description might explain why some drivers may have thought they had an actual servo to assist the brakes.

Re: Rover servo
Thanks, I feel your explanation is correct.
If there was a special Girling servo for mechanical brakes they would have been common on more prestigious autos than Bradford's.
I will just get used to using my leg muscles.
