Petrol Guages

Post by AlanBartlett »

I know they work on the amount of resistance that comes from the sender unit, Ive taken a few old style guages apart to see how they work and they work by the resistanced being stored up in the mini coils of wire inside the unit. For now ive got a replacement working one in the car, but was wanting to know how to fix one? and where to start for a diagnosis of whats wrong, for example ive worked out now that a broken one if u turn the guage upside down and it gives a full reading, its not working or u put current thru it to earth it shud read full because of the zero resistance. Ive currently got the jowett one apart from its casing but thats as far as i know so far?
