Could someone please help re the banjo and banjo bolt on the high pressure side of the master cylinder (full hydraulic system)? The parts book specifies gaskets (not illustrated) and I have a slight weep of fluid (silicone) from this joint since rebuilding my brake system. Does anyone know:
a) The correct positioning of the gaskets i.e. where do they go?
b) What they are made of? (I have used ordinary fibre washers which obviously haven't done the trick!)

Don’t I have some fun with this car? Almost as much as Alan Bartlett with his pre-war! :wink:

It is my understanding, that in general, brake banjo fittings usually have copper washers, and some later model cars have a aluminium washer.

Dear Paul,

The banjo fitting you describe should have copper washers, two off, one located on each side of the banjo fitting. The washers should be new and anealed copper.

Silicone brake fluid - frankly I would not entertain the use of such. I know that the advertising blurb says that the USA defence forces use it exclusively in their vehicles. To me that is not a recommendation!

But you do not have the damp weather that rusts all the brake cylindrers. Anyway let us not start that thread again!!!!
