Hi All,
Here's an opportunity to get your cheque book out!
On eBay ( item no. 256058287517 ) there are a pair of NEW matching engine crankcases. The seller says they are unused from the production run made by JCS a few years ago, but I have no way of checking this.
He/she is asking £895 and suggests collection from Bingley, Yorkshire. ( Not that far from the National Rally! )
Someone might be interested?
Also, there seems to be a lot of interesting other Javelin/Jupiter stuff on eBay at the moment. Is somone selling a hoard? For instance, there is a dashboard with instruments that look in good condition from a late standard Javelin, as well as that NS exhaust manifold that always breaks it's lugs. This one looks complete. Also a Javelin/Jupiter gearbox in Rotherham for £200. But it's a 'J' type, so do your homework.
All the best,
David

Re: New Javelin/Jupiter Crankcase
Hi All,
The good stuff just keeps on coming up on eBay. How about an apparently new distributor, to the 'Clements' curve, which, from the invoice seen in the photo, seems to be going at a discount and a Javelin/Jupiter starter pinion, which I believe is like hen's teeth, in it's NOS box.
There's even a pair of new pistons, which I bet are from a stationary engine in +0.030" to tempt me!
If you are interested, have a browse. There's quite a lot of material.
All the best,
David

Re: New Javelin/Jupiter Crankcase
David - The Rotherham based items are likely to be ex the late Jack Mitchell and are being sold by his son in law, The new crankcases will require further engineering work prior to assembly and are far from a bolt together with your own components scenario, The dashboard items for the standard Javelin like so many Jowett parts offered on E Bay are vastly over valued / over priced by speculative dealers / vendors - Its a great shame that Jowett parts offered for sale on the various electronic media sales sites attract far more attention than the vast emporium of Jowett Car Spares - Granted there is the odd bargain to be had on the electronic media sites but then again how do you know what's in stock and at what price if you don't enquire / support the clubs dedicated parts service in the first place.
Don't get me wrong this is not a criticism aimed at your good self - but I do wish that members took the time to make the enquiry to JCS or gave JCS the opportunity of the business has the first option rather than just assume that what's being offered elsewhere is a bargain.

Re: New Javelin/Jupiter Crankcase
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your comments. I don't take it as a criticism and I would be the first to give JCS a really good pat on the back for their stirling work. I wouldn't wish to put in the hours they do to help members. A cold and wet Monday evening is best spent round the fireside!
I was just drawing members attention to just a few of the items available on the various auction sites, so members can make their own judgements as to value etc. I completely agree that many dealers try and make profits and those dashboard instruments may well be a case in point. However, I have found some items turn up that JCS may not have on the shelf, especially when overseas NOS is being cleared. I can remember some quite interesting and rare items coming to market from Cyprus, which must have been on the shelf there for years. Which, of course, can mean things like oil seals may have aged in the heat and a new one would obviously be preferable. Let the buyer beware!
JCS, thank goodness, has a superb range and members should check their stock first, but this doesn't mean that a browse through what is being offered through the internet keeps the interest alive and active. Reading the menu doesn't mean you have to walk through the door!
I really look forward to seeing you again at the Rally and hope you have a safe journey,
Best wishes,
David
