Searchlight Generator

Post by David Morris »

Hi All,

I am busy restoring a Jowett WW2 Searchlight generator, which uses the famous Jowett two cylinder engine as the power source. It has the usual front timing case cover modified to take a governor mechanism, to hold the speed steady and an unusual updraught carburetter. For ignition, it uses a Wico Series A impulse magneto and the power plant is coupled to a 150v DC dynamo, rated at 4.5Kw.

Does anyone have a spare Wico magneto, or parts? I am specifically interested in a contact breaker assembly?

Many thanks,

David

Hi All,

Just an update. I have fortunately found the spare magnetos that I thought had been lost in my house move. So, I now have to see if they are suitable, but the need to search for more is not essential, but thanks to anyone who might have started looking to help.

All the best,

David
