Spark plugs

Why not tell us about your car (start with a picture) and say what you have done with it; either restoring or using it over the years. Restoration of particular parts is of special interest. Club members can have their space on in their Personal Album to do this.

Spark plugs

Post by Keith Clements »

Not really an experience; but a tip.
Tightening plugs correctly is important as it greatly governs the operating temperature of the plug and hence all manner of ailments.
Jowetts have flat washes rather than conical; so they should be tightened as follows.

When new screw in by hand; then turn with plug spanner until first resistance is felt, then turn another 90deg. When USED, as previous; but only tighten 30 deg.
