How grateful I am for the image you kindly sent me all those years ago that enabled me to make the replica badge that now adorns PG!
That badge cost the buyer more than twice what I paid for the whole(ish) car in 1966!
And we complain about inflation!
Kind Regards, Ian H

Hi Ian.
Wow, there's nothing wrong with your long-term memory cells!
Here's a photo of the one I made over a few weekends whilst at work in the Path Lab at Burnley between emergency calls, well before I retired in 2004.
It started out as a sheet of brass, overlaid by a paper cut-out of the badge (by the good graces of Frank Cooke, rest his soul), and a can of spray paint.
After drilling with a fine drill and filing with very small files I came up with an acceptable copy as you can see.
It was polished and chromed and now adorns the radiator of 'Sarah Jane' my 1933 'Flying Fox', which was completed in 2008.
There were no original badges available at the time. I suppose it took me around 15 hours to complete the cut-out. Baden Powell called it 'stickability'. Best wishes,
Tony.

That's right Tony! Mine took me about 3 weeks of evenings with needle files and small drills but the end result looks absolutely 'right'.
At shows I am often asked about the 'spares' situation and I always point to JCS and the benefits of belonging to a club. It seems that most 'One Make' clubs do operate a spares service, but not all.
Jowett bits are very thin on the ground at autojumbles these days......

I have a spare early vintage script badge. Its an original solid Nickel one. Bigger than the photo above I would say. If anyone is stuck i am happy to sell. I dont look on here often enough. James@TiptopEngineering.co.uk
