Jowett websites not accessible
As some of you may know Godaddy gave me a week last September to reduce the size of the website (even though I was within their specified limits).
This was done and then over the course of the next few months I moved the various sub-systems onto Google cloud. These were jowett.org, jowettjupiter.com, JowettTalk, the Library and Archive and Search system, and the Member Services. Then the mail system.
But this just left the Domain Naming Service. The contract for hosting with Godaddy ended on May 9th. Godaddy should not have messed with the DNS, but they did and it took me 4 hours yesterday to convince them of this. I have rebuilt the DNS into what I hope works and have tested some of the sub-systems, but there still may be an issue.
To compound the problem the automatic security certificate renewal seemed to stopped working. I managed to figure out how to fix this without my notes available as I am on holiday and doing this from a hotel room, so all should now be well. But let me know if you find anything wrong.

Hi Keith,
I hope I speak for many members, but we are very grateful for sorting out the problems and getting the website back asap.
Hope you didn't miss too much holiday? The thought of you holed up in your hotel bedroom, sorting out the problems for us, makes me feel very guilty!
Many thanks,
David

Re: Jowett websites not accessible
Amother issue showed itself on Monday, and it took some time to figure out what caused it. The web server was not working properly. This was caused by an incorrect process I used to fix the security certificate issue. During this investigation I found the problem causing the certificate renewal problem and fixed it.
So hopefully all is now well and the system will continue without interruption.
To hamper the resolution I returned from holiday to find the heating boiler had a fault and the development computer lost its operating system and refused to restore, (luckily I have a dual boot so can still access files but not the dev system itself) I have another dev system on my laptop so will now get this fully functional. Note the back up system on the club laptop was a couple of weeks out of date so was not invoked.

I am most grateful.
You haven't by any chance noticed a power-sucking spaceship hovering over you?

Is the server search working? I can't seem to get it to return anything on any likely term.
