A big favour

Post by David Kemp »

Good morning. I am trying to find modern safety rims for my Jupiter.
I have found 16 inch space saver rims with Jowett size centres . However they all at this stage seem to be 4 inch wide.
I will eventually go down to a wrecker & look at what is available as google does not seem to rate space saver rims as worthy enough to give comparison charts or even data of what size common cars have as space savers.
So my big ask from club members is, can you please look at the space saver in your modern & let me know its size.
The markings will look like J4x16 , or if lucky j4.5 x 16.
The other thought is to simply use the 4 inch ones as it would be an improvement any way.
Any ideas as always would be appreciated.
Good memories of Bradfords.

The problem will be the pitch circle for the bolts.
The spare wheel carrier can easily by dropped to accommodate a larger wheel.
Is it weight you are trying to save? Just carry a can of sealer!

I am only after them for the outer rim (barrel).
So i can fit then to my Jupiter centres.
People have used landrover outers etc but these are now hard to find & not safety rims.
In the USA new outer barrels are available from wheel suppliers, but here in OZ the narrowest new barrel is 6inch wide. This is too wide for the jupiter.

Hi David,

You can try the Tyre And Rim Association at:

https://tyreandrim.org.au/

In my working life we used them frequently for farm machinery recommendations.

Could be worth a try.
