Jowett Taxi Fleet Goodwood Revival 17-19 Sept 2021

Post by Keith Clements »

Those on the list should have received this email.
Please contact Goodwood if you did not and please copy me also if you do.
Please also let me know when you have completed the application.
Those wishing to join the Jowett Taxi Fleet please let me know and I will see if Goodwood can accomodate you.
Dear all,

It is with our greatest pleasure that I write to invite you to return and take part in this year’s Goodwood Revival Transport Corps over the weekend of 17th – 19th September 2021.

The support from enthusiasts such as yourself is a vital part of what makes such an authentic atmosphere here at Goodwood. An atmosphere which we yearn to achieve for our guests, and without your dedication and enthusiasm for the event, would be near impossible! We are extremely grateful for your ongoing dedication and support, thank you.

Similar to 2020, our application process is now online. Please click on the following link to view the essential information and complete your application https://www.goodwood.com/grtc/

Please ensure you have completed your application by the 26th March 2021 if you wish to participate.

If you have any troubles completing the online form or would simply prefer to complete the forms via email please contact the office via grtc@goodwood.com or 01243 755051 and we can arrange an alternative application for you.

As outlined in the Essential Information, GRTC volunteers will need to be on-site on Thursday 16th September between 17:30hrs and 19:00hrs to sign on - the location will be confirmed in the letter you receive in your ticketing pack. At sign-on you will be given a briefing, highlighting key points and updating you to any changes to the event and an opportunity to ask any final questions before the event goes live.

Please note: if, having submitted your contract, it becomes apparent that you cannot attend the event, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we may arrange a suitable replacement.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Goodwood this year. Thank you once again for your incredibly valued support of the Goodwood Revival.

So the countdown begins. What are peoples thoughts on attending this year? I'm rapidly getting the Weasel ready, although double jabbed I'm still unsure about it with Covid cases still looming in the background.

Unless I see a downturn in cases by the beginning of September, I don't think I want to risk it. The last time I went it was absolutely jam packed and I dare say it would be the same this time. Yes, it is an outdoor event but when people are so close together without masks it will spread. Covid is rife down here for that reason!

I will be going but will maintain my Covid prevention measures. I will check with GRTC to see what measures they are taking. The majority of my activity can be controlled. For instance we can insist our passengers wear masks and we can keep windows open. We could also disinfect the car after each ride. Things might change if it is raining.
I have been to Silverstone where I was fairly happy with arrangements and people's vigilence.
But we should all make our own risk assessment. Somehow we have to learn to live again, albeit not quite the same as before.

I will still be attending,as keith says we have to live with this and try to have some normality,I shall restrict the number of passengers per trip and not overload , windows open and probably disinfect regularly. Also I am double vaccinated, I just need to be aware and careful

Hopefully most taxi drivers have received their tickets. If you have any that you will not be using please tell me so that others can enjoy the event.
If any members would like to go then I can put them in touch with the owners of the spare tickets.

Jaak Jacobs is coming from Belgium and will be camping.

If you will be camping please let me know so that I can reserve enough space for us all.

Not the usual pictures.
Used the demister to clear the windscreen in the early morning as nothing could be seen in the rising sun.

The regulator on Chris's car blew up so I swapped with the one on the Javelin as it is not used since it has an alternator.
The regulator was a year old and it had melted but not sure what caused the fault. Chinese rubbish again, I expect! The 70 year old replacement worked straight away!
A few of the Javelins (and others in the taxi fleet) suffered from petrol issues. Mine refused to start after being left for 5 minutes, but left for an hour to cool it started first time. Peter's stalled at the roundabout and refused to start. We we were using 97 RON E5. The engine was not overheating but the engine compartment must have been very hot sitting in traffic most of the time.

Morning Keith
Hope you all got home safe ,I returned home yesterday afternoon after a journey that took nearly 2 hours longer that the journey up due to traffic and roadworks.
Generally I thought the weekend went well, we met plenty of people including a guy from the Bentley factory on the design team .
I was just wondering if you had become aware of any issues with the fuel Goodwood supplied. On Saturday I struggled with fuel vapour issues and an overheating fuel pump, on the Sunday I appeared to improve the problem by adding a third of bottle of fuel stabilizer .
I then found out that there were a number of taxis suffering with very similar problems inc Peter ,just thought I would ask your opinion as you appeared to have some problems at one time
Regards
Nigel
