Have managed to get Polly back together and she fired up first go. Not bad given she has sat since June as the cracked gearbox issue was sorted, radiator fixed and we moved the gear lever etc to the outside. However, the cone clutch is stuck! Any clues on freeing up? I do hope I do not have to take out the engine and or gearbox.
I have searched Jowett talk and did not come up with anything. Chris Eyre’s tip wasM when leaving the car for any length of time, to leave the clutch engaged...only this time, with the gearbox out, that was not so easy. In hindsight perhaps a few bamboo strips placed between the clutch and flywheel housing before removing the gearbox may have prevented the issue. Easy to say in hindsight.
Many thanks In advance for your thoughts.

Not sure if a 1929 would succumb to a rocking backwards and forwards in gear with the foot on the clutch. You could also try starting the car with a back wheel raised, the heat might release, and then apply the brakes with the foot on the clutch and let the engine stall. Try reverse and first gears.
I have had this more than once on the Javelin. Luckily on the Jav you can take a plate off and attack with a screwdriver or even in bad cases release the bolts securing the clutch.

All sorted., thank you. Tried the trick of jacking up and then dropping the car whilst running in gear - that little tinker of a twin had too much torque and off we went in any gear bar top!
The solution was.... I used a long handled flat screwdriver to gently lever the clutch body from the flywheel using the insets to place the screwdriver head in and pivot against the edge of the starter gear, gently working around the 3 insets in turn. Worked a treat.
