Flywheel

Post by David Kemp »

I am building my Jupiter for the road not racing, however I understand removing weight from the flywheel is a good idea.
Does any one have an opinion on how much weight to remove & the best place to remove it from?
Good memories of Bradfords.

There is some recent dicussion about this in the Javelin section under the heading "Crankshaft Weight". True it does not come up with an actual figure but my initial post was to point out that the oval web crankshaft was heavier than previous types but flywheel weight seems to have remained the same. The conclusion seems to be that the engine will stand a considerable reduction in flywheel weight. Anyway, have a look.
