This is range of Jowett colours that were used on the Javelin & Jupiter
Jowett Colours - Version 1-D.xlsx
Although the orginal mixing formula's are available - the tinters in order to mix the paint coulrs have long been deleted - in most circumstances the colour can be matched to a newer / modern colour through spectrometer colour matching - I can advise accordingly once you have a colour in mind - Chris

Do you have a modern equivalent to Metalchrome turquoise blue?

These guys are in the San Diego area. https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/ Some years ago, I sent them a panel with the explanation that it was the original Metallic Turquoise and they told me THEY would decide if it was original! First thing they will tell you is that the old paint tints and chemicals are no longer available and even the type of modern paint (lacquer, enamel, water-base, etc) impacts the appearance. That said, they can mix the color in any of the current chemical bases. Perhaps you can get them to send the "recipe", as I doubt sending a gallon of paint makes economic sense. The old duffer that runs the "library" is very helpful.

I will buzz them in the morning. I looked on the website and they don't list it, but I have all my info to remind them.

Hopefully Chris will respond. If you are painting the whole car and not wanting an exact colour match then the exercise is a lot simpler. Metallics are very difficult to match even with a computer assisted spectrometer. Metallics also reflect their surroundings so comparing a photo against a colour chart is also unreliable.
I do not know how accurate a modern formulation is between brands of paint supplier or to what we think was an original colour. There is a degree of artistry in getting the palette how you would like it. However, greens are a lot easier than reds to get how you want them.

Any one on here have a pic that they can post of what they assume is the original 'Metalchrome Turquoise Blue' - chances are that another manufacture was using the same colour but gave the colour a different name - I have so far identified modern colour matches for the dark green, dark green metallic, dark red metallic, maroon, ivory & a few others - Jowett were certainty using the same colour formulas has the Jaguar range through the late 40's / early 50's - but obviously gave the colours different names to the Jaguar range

Chris, agreed that the name differs on the same formula.

Roger Stevens looked on the label of his can and forwarded this:
ICI2217
UBLV-TCPICI 2217
Tri City Paint Corp.
Restoration Shop UBLV Urethane Basecoat
3.5VCC Compliant

So their code matches the PO31 2217 and Balm 222-2217 code numbers. Now, how to make use of this!!

Thanks for the help. My car was originally red. However I wish to paint it this turquoise as my kids fell in love with it, & I have too.
I do need a sample as each photo I see it looks different, & the local paint guy came up with two totally different colour samples. The closest colour I can match to the photo is UMG Polynesian turquoise; a BMC Mini colour.

The one on the left is the BMC colour.

The BMC Polynesian Turquoise is probably not that far away from where you need to be and there is a modern formula available for it - you may find similar colours within several vehicle manufactures colour ranges of the 70's but you need to be careful has in later years the colour spectrums changed and adopted larger format metallic's - has you approach the late 90's early 00's metallic's were largely replaced with pearlescent's which would appear completely alien on a period car such has a Jupiter

The color on the Mini looks way too blue on my PC. Sooooooooooooooooo, I have a MT bonnet sitting on a shelf. I could detach the small front wing apron and send it down for color matching. I am hesitant over the chance of losing the piece, although a talented panel beater could make a replacement. Open to ideas. Anyone passing through Los Angeles on the way to OZ?????

Bill Lock stocks the front wing aprons - off the shelf in alloy has per the originals - you just have to drill the flanges for the bolt apertures
