Do you have your old hood we could both use as a pattern as I need one making also.
About 6 years ago I had one successfully made by what is now The Trimming Centre in Lewes BN7 3PS

Yes, the old hood is on the car, it was made from the pattern off the previous hood but this time I want it tailored with the car present which ensures a better fit. The last one was made separate from the car and though ok could have been a better fit.
Also I need it making closer to home. When I get it done I can save the old hood for you.

Re: New Jupiter sa hood
The problem with the SA hood is that the shape and location of the frame is variable thus fitting on the car is really necessary.
I would recommend renovating the wood of the frame before getting the hood made.
You also need to make a decision as to whether you fit the miniscule original glass rear window or fit a larger plastic one.
I also fitted rear quarter lights in mine and Amy in her SC to improve rear visibility.
You might also consider how to improve the seal around the front and sides. We embedded a squishy foam square section into the wood and incorporated a drip channel above the windows.
Also fitting a zip or velcro and studs to make raising and lowering easier.
Also fitting 'raise the dot' studs around the rear hoop so that it can be totally removed.
Also how to fit a tonneau cover as well.
If you have a long back like I do then raising the hood might also be sensible.
Getting a good fitting, weatherproof hood is an art and a science.

Re: New Jupiter sa hood
Thanks Keith, all good advice. I replaced all the wood back in the 80’s. With the hood I opted
For a larger back screen and quarter lights because of an unpleasant experience with a HGV that mounted the rear end of a previous Jupiter that I owned

I can do it but I am well down country from you and like any good restorer my waiting list / lead times are several months - early Autumn currently - has Keith states due to the hand built nature of the Jupiter I would never assume that what fits one car perfectly will fit another just has perfectly has experience dictates otherwise - has always I am happy help / assist but its matter of joining the queue - Chris

Re: New Jupiter sa hood
Amy (or actually Sharon) fitted a zip around her SC's rear window (idea stolen from Amy's Mazda). This helps prevent cracking and scratching of the plastic window when hood is down.
My SA hood was made to fit over the roll bar required for racing which has to be 5 cm above the height of your helmet. I extended the hoops to accommodate this expansion when I gave the roll bar to Ib Rasmussen. The advantage of the extra height is my head is no longer buffeted by a flapping hood when travelling at speed and the view from the mirror through the large back window is uninterrupted .
