Mary Ellen's (1934 Short saloon) ignition light wouldn't go out recently. We've had posts about this before, but I thought I'd share a little tip, unless of course you all already know about this.
Fortunately, the dynamo brush screws were of the cheese-head type (A in diagram). When loosened in the first instance on the third brush, with a long screwdriver, and even more so on replacement, and having the petrol pipe from pump to carburettor in the way, pushing a short length of neoprene petrol pipe over the screw head allowed easy removal and replacement of said screw.
Another spare dynamo had the other type of screw (C in diagram) holding the brush terminals, and I'd have struggled a bit more if this was the type on M.E.'s dynamo.
