Danish Rally
28th to the 31st of August, 2020
It is going to be a ‘Royal Rally!’ – following in the footsteps of some of our famous Kings. Highlights will (probably) be visiting the Frederiksborg Castle in Hilleroed, Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, and Fredensborg Castle in Fredensborg – including guided tours in these three castles.
We also plan to visit the “Falkonergården”, where falconers have taken up the old Danish/Royal tradition of training hawks for hunting. Here we will be able to see displays with falcons, hawks and eagles at a very close distance.
Finally, we have a visit planned at the The Army’s Powder Works in Frederiksvaerk. This is based on the old gunpowder works from 1758, which has been made into a working museum of powder production. The Powder Works Museum is probably the best preserved gunpowder works in the world with intact machinery from the 1800’s. It is partly powered by a Poncelet water wheel from the 1850s.
We are presently negotiating where to eat and where to stay – and we promise you: this is going to be worth the Royals as well ….
At the same time, we put all our efforts into providing the lowest prices possible!

- Your interest in the forum: Hi Keith,
My wife and I met you at the Jowett Bash in North Carolina (all four of us!).
I have owned Jupiter 822 since 1963. I drove it in the 60's and 70's in California.
The car is now in restoration. I stopped driving the Jup when I purchased a Lotus Europa. The Europa is a 1973 Twin Cam and we still have it and I am currently
rebuilding the engine.
We plan on traveling to the UK next spring.

Having failed miserably to make the swiss rally, I'm very interested in this. I will commit nearer the time!

Re: Danish Rally
We have received confirmation regarding the Hotel: it will be Fredensborg Store Kro: http://www.storekro.com/
We have bargained a VERY good price here:
Double Room: DKK 825.00 / 95£ per night incl. breakfast
Single Room: DKK 695,00 / 80£ per night incl. breakfast
We have also made a rough estimate of the cost attending the Danish Rally: 270 £ per person.
This includes 3 * Dinner (on the 28th, 29th and 30th) , 2 * Lunch (on the 29th and 30th), all entries during the Rally, 1 small Rally bag, and driving instructions.
This excludes any beverages
The plan is that all arrive Friday the 28th - we register, we have a small event and we eat an informal dinner together... The Rally will take place Saturday and Sunday - with Gala Dinner Sunday evening. Monday we say GoodBye after breakfast.
If anyone should prefer to stay longer (before or after), our deal includes that an extension of the stay at the hotel will be at the same price per night as quoted above!

Re: Danish Rally...Getting there
Ferries.
For those planning how to get there from the UK then my suggestion from the south is ferry from Dover to Dunkirk about 10 or 11 a.m.
Those from the Midlands may like to take the Harwich - Hook of Holland and those from the north there are Hull and Newcastle sailings to Amsterdam, Holland.
Ferry companies may do a deal if a number get together and book up, preferably prior to Christmas. They may also give discount on hotels.
Onward.
From Dunkirk there is a 240 km drive to Peer, Belgium. This part of the journey is how Scott and I travelled to the Swiss rally. We arrived about 17.30 in Peer for the Coffee and Classics. To carry onto Denmark you could do a 480k drive to stop over in Hamburg, then a 160 km drive to Puttgarden - Rodby ferry, then a 190 km drive to Fredensborg. These are a couple of long days but quite possible in a post war Jowett. This is almost what I did in 2012 for the previous Danish rally although we spent an extra day meeting then travelling with some German and Dutch friends.
Chris' Javelin and my Jupiter did about 480k in the day going from Mulhouse to north of Reims and that included a couple of mechanical fixes on the way. I did the 250km from Reims to Calais in close to 2.25 hrs but that was pushing it to catch the earlier ferry.

Re: Danish Rally
Cira has said that because the Danish government is only allowing entry from Norway and Germany, the Danish rally will be cancelled.
Let us hope we can have one next year.

Re: Danish Rally
Dear All!
This is an update to the Covid 19 situation as it is presently - updates as per the 1st June are marked with undescore - seen from the Danish Jowett Rally perspective:
- All large events have been forbidden till the end of August this year (we still need to see the definition of a “large event” – 10 persons, 50 persons, 500 persons….)
=> this restriction is expected to be loosened to allow gatherings of 30 - 50 persons as per 8th June. Final decision / guidelines will be given few days before.
- Our borders are still closed or all foreign tourists
=> two days ago it was announced that "as per 15th June Denmark will allow tourists from Germany, Norway and Iceland to cross our borders- if they can document that they are going to stay here for at least 6 days. There are ongoing negotiations with Sweden and Finland ....
As I stated in my last mail to you, I will need to receive final commitment and payment on the 25th June - at the latest - if I am to carry on with the planning of the Danish Rally event for 2020.
My guts feeling is that we will NOT be seeing announcements of open borders from neither UK nor US prior to this date! BUT: I will allow for the possibility and wait till the 25th until I send you my FINAL decision regarding the fate for the event.
Kindest Regards
Cira & Ib

Danish Rally 27th till 30th August 2021
Dearest All!
I have received several feed backs to my mail from yesterday - stating that they will NOT feel comfortable attending an international rally taking place already late August this year... no matter what the separate governments may decide.
Based on this, we (Ib and I) have decided already now to cancel our event for this year!
We will contact the hotel, all restaurants, guides and museums and do our very best in negotiations to see if we can have the same programme arranged for the same weekend in August 2021 = 27th till 30th August 2021.
I will let you know as soon as I have a clear picture of this!
Kindest Regards - Love and Concern
