Following my son's recent (unauthorised) intervention in getting the engine in the Long Four running, I now have the task of making a replica of the linkage for the ignition advance and retard. (Original missing).
At the end where the control rod passes through the bodywork, there is an 1/8" hole in the 'cranked' end of the rod.
At the distributor end, there are two holes each about 1/4" diameter.
So it would appear that the linkage is probably an 1/8" dia rod, with one end bent over at right angles - probably with a split pin to hold it in place -and at the other (distributor) end, . . . ?
My GUESS at present is a clevis arrangement like the Bradford brake linkages, probably screwed onto the rod and with a locking nut, but does anyone KNOW?
Whilst I am at it, does anyone have data on the accelerator return spring? I have fitted a spring and it works OK, but it would be 'nice' to have one of the correct diameter and length.
