PRACTICAL CLASSICS RESTORATION SHOW 22nd -24th MARCH 2019

Post by Chris Spencer »

The Club shall once again be exhibiting at the PRACTICAL CLASSICS CLASSIC CAR & RESTORATION SHOW with DISCOVERY held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham - Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th March 2019 - this is a very popular and ever expanding show which the club has been involved in since the inaugural show in 2014 - this will therefore be the clubs sixth attendance at the event - it provides a superb platform for the club to not only display the Jowett model range but also for us to demonstrate how we work has a club with member support, parts availability, team work, commitment & professionalism - it's not an event that we undertake lightly with the team putting several months of planning together, a vast amount of logistics and huge slice of dedication coming together to ensure that we are considered has having the 'Benchmark Club Stand' by both the public & the classic / vintage movement media. We shall once again be demonstrating our restoration skills to the full on several Jowett vehicles on a live stand / arena format - It ensures that the club maintains a very high profile and allows us to compete & be compared with clubs of a far greater membership whom have extensive resources on tap when compared to that of JCC. It's not about competing though - it's about what we do best within our club - how we support the membership in a friendly environment along with enjoying our cars whilst tackling the challenges head on that they bring. The stand is completely self funding and does not draw on the finances of the club in any way or form - the club does however ensure that the clubs insurance policy covers the stand undertakings for the show. If you could possibly help with a donation towards the funding of the stand it would be very much appreciated - my contact details are on page 3 of the 'Jowetteer'

Lastly we need your support so please put the date in your diary and make a visit to the show - there will be an exclusive JCC discounted members ticket offer detailed in both the February & March 2019 editions of the 'Jowetteer'

Many thanks - Chris

Hi Chris,
Which hotel do you all use if you stay for the weekend?
How far is it from the NEC?
Is there public transport available to and fro?
Tony.

Hi Tony - We go offsite has the hotels on site charge a premium - so this is where we have stopped for the last 3 years:

https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels ... B&BRAND=PI

We can normally book the 3 nights that we stay for less than the price of a single night at one of the NEC complex hotels

Birmingham International train station is physically within the NEC site and it's a short undercover walk from the station to the exhibition halls - Birmingham New Street station is a 10 minute train ride & costs circa £3.00 each way - The hotel is within easy / few minutes walking distance of the station - has a reasonably priced restaurant and if you book a meal deal I think you can do breakfast & dinner for about £25 per day

Let me know if you like any further information - Chris

Thanks for the telephone info. Chris, David and Hon Ed.
I have booked the Premier Inn Chris suggested, for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to come home on the Monday.
I'm coming down by train. It seems the easiest thing to do. Car parking at the Birmingham NCP, and then at the NEC for the duration almost equates to the return train fare from Accrington via Preston to Birmingham New Street, even without the petrol costs. I'll 'let the train take the strain'.
I used the code for the tickets, thank you Keith.
So see you there for dinner on the Friday evening all being well.
Tony.

The National Car Club Awards are presented on the Saturday evening of the show - 23/03/19 at the NEC - I am delighted to announce that the nomination that was submitted for the 'Outstanding Car Club Run, Rally or Tour' has been shortlisted by the judges for the Swiss Rally - we are up against 6 other clubs so I am not taking anything for granted - but just to be shortlisted from a huge amount of nominations is a credit to the organisers & attendees of the rally - just hold your breath until the presentations if you can - If you would like to attend the presentations tickets are available which includes a 3 course dinner please contact me for further details

Can it be that I am the first to congratulate the Team on an excellent display at the Show?

Whilst I only saw the display on Sunday, it was clear that a great deal of work had gone into not only preparing the display but also in carrying out interesting work during the Show for the benefit of visitors.

Well Done to all!

It was also promising to see a good number of 'junior' visitors in all parts of the Show. All clubs need the next generation to keep up the spirit.

I was especially pleased to benefit from a very welcome cup of tea PERSONALLY CRAFTED by Peter Pfister and a slice of fine lemon drizzle cake created by (I think) Sue Mason. Nice touches on a great occasion.

Safely back in Wales now but hoping to get back to E/B if only for a brief visit for drive-it day.
The devil is in the detail!

Well said Ian!
Jane and I were at the show on Friday and, as usual, we were very impressed with the JCC stand.
The Jupiter OLO429 was being dismantled, and by the time we left on Friday afternoon the bonnet and doors were off and the engine and gearbox were out. I understand that by Sunday evening the car was completely stripped - well done everybody.
I know I am biased, but I think our stand was the best there again, so well-done to Chris and the JCC Team!
