The photos below are not of Jowetts, they are of Kevin Pinkstone from his first days of racing sprites to when he graduates to Brabhams. Kevin was more than an adequate driver, his skill was on international level however marriage, kids, business like many of us altered his path. He went on as a drag racer holding many track records. And now, the part that joins Jowetts, Bruce Polain from what I understand was not a professional driver however, he in a backyard made Wylie Javelin did a best quarter mile time of 12.7 seconds. Kevin Pinkstone in a factory Brabham did approximately the same time breaking the track record. This is not denigrating either man or machine, it is simply a comparison of how a javelin can run against a factory machine & be competitive. Something I doubt the current factory sedans will ever do.
Times change too, I doubt we could legally A frame our racers to the track anymore! Or dream of towing with something of his tow cars small capacity! A different era when a local lad could race against the worlds best.
