10th June 2018
Here is the details on, our Jowett Black Prince, it was a total wreck when we rescued it it 1988, after 3to 4years of dedicated love to her and all most a divorce from her indoors, she rolled out of the garage.
This was no mean fete as Guernsey is a very small Island in the English Channel, for which the main industries was Tomato growing and tourism, now banking, so it was with a lot of help from the Jowett club that we were successful in this challenge.
My very good friend Alan Pike was the driving power in the project, but sadly now in a home and unable to enjoy her.
July 2017 the Jowett came to France and installed in her new Garage built for her, she is now registered in France as a classic car. (EQ-233-GG)
It is a 1931 model and was one of the last 6 volt cars built, it arrived in Guernsey in 1934 / 1935 and was hidden in a hay stack during the occupation as the Germans commandeered cars and motor cycles.
At some time with the previous owner, she was vandalised and left out to the elements, till myself and Alan rescued her.
She is at the moment waiting for some minor painting on the rear wings due to paint cracking, but has had new tyres fitted even though the others were not worn out after 26 years but were cracking due to age.
The French love to see vintage cars, and hear about the history on them, so getting the baguette's can quite a time!!
I have heard of a club near me in Dinan, the members objective is to pass on all the knowledge on vintage cars to youngsters to keep them going for many more years, when I hear more will update the club.
May I ask that if there is anybody in the club that can give me any information on the model Black Prince,- all would be very gratefully received.
