RACV British & European Motoring Show

Post by Mike Allfrey »

G'dday From The Sunny South,

On 4th March, the Jowett Car Club of Australia attended the RACV British & European Motoring Show. We had five Jowetts present basking in the lovely late summer sunshine. There were also other club members and a couple of past members who stopped to say "hello".

On display were:

Javelin - Peter Coakley
Javelin - Wal Munro
Javelin - Trevor White
Javelin - Richard Homersham
Jupiter - Mike Allfrey

We didn't win any prizes, but we did score some green grass to park on! Much interest was shown by the public and, just sitting listening to comments revealed just how lacking Joe Public is in the knowledge of matters Jowett.

People seem to be convinced that our cars are air cooled and feature front wheel drive. It gives great satisfaction to inform that, pointing at the radiator, water has been carried in there for 50-plus years!

With a Jupiter on display with bonnet open, it is amazing how many sounding full of knowledge, inform us that it is front wheel drive - because of the torsion bar suspension!

It was an excellent day and we enjoyed it immensely.

Mike Allfrey.
