Take you own seat on the plane

Why not tell us about your car (start with a picture) and say what you have done with it; either restoring or using it over the years. Restoration of particular parts is of special interest. Club members can have their space on in their Personal Album to do this.

Take you own seat on the plane

Post by Keith Clements »

A postscript to the brains trust post in the Jup section from Tony to Mike Allfrey.
Hullo again Mike and Jowetteers all,

Just reflecting on your comments on your trips for New Holland. It was always great to meet up on your visits to WA. Remember the occasion - must have been 25 years ago - when I picked you up, in the Jupiter, from the TAFE where you had been lecturing and we came back here for a bite - and a port or two… A seat didn’t come with my Jupiter “kit of parts” but I obtained sketches of the originals from Reg Gilbert, Jupiter restorer from Nova Scotia and, because you needed one as well, I had made two frames while I was at it. So, about 2 o’clock the following morning I dropped you back at your hotel, walking into reception with this frame tucked underneath our arms. The desk clerk didn’t bat an eye and you took it back on the plane as hand luggage!

Great days indeed. (Imagine trying to do that now; there’d be security sirens everywhere.

All the best, Tony G.
