Mistral Mk I bodied Jupiter

Post by Forumadmin »

If it will help anyone’s history, here’s another view of the Jupiter put together (and was to be raced) by Jack Martin and me. It’s first outing, after a couple of trips to Riverside for wringing out, was to Del Mar near San Diego, and turned out to be its last. In practice the steering arm broke, the car went straight off at a turn, and it was retired. Jack got married and moved east, I went to NY, and the project was dropped, with the car going to his nephew. There was absolutely no money behind it and we didn’t hold out high hopes, but it would have been fun. And was, up until that point. (note the distributor sticking out of the very front-engine car)

Assuming they had Jowett suspension , I wonder if the steering ball height was incorrect causing the arm to break.
