Urgent update .
I have just done some analysis of the JowettGallery user database comparing it with the membership lists that I have. Of the 278 registered users of the Gallery only 133 have corresponding email addresses in a membership list. This is probably due to email addresses having changed over the years since registration, after all some have been registered for over 7 years. Some may be due to people having more than one email address. Some may be lapsed members.
Well, very soon those who do not have their email address in the Gallery matching that in a club membership list will find they cannot get into the Gallery and will have to contact me. So please, to save you and me the hassle, make sure you have informed the membership sec of your current email address and copied me with the same information.
Note JCC UK members can do this using Jowett Internet Services provided that the email address they are registered with in JIS matches that in the 2014 membership list. If it does not then you will have to resort to a couple of emails to inform me and the membership sec.! Please give your membership number, name and postcode when sending the email for added security. A phone call follow up would help reduce identity fraud, as it is difficult to be certain the email received by the membership sec was from who they said they were unless some personalised information reinforces trust.
Please also make sure the email address recorded in the JowettGallery and JowettTalk match this email address.
Please note the JCC Ltd, JOAC, JCC Australia and JCC New Zealand lists will be referenced. I am working with Neil Belk and Scott Renner on the North American Jowett Register list as well. I am happy to engage in dialogue on any issues.
I have just posted a help file in the Gallery to assist in this process. You do not have to logon to read this! Please read these topics first.

Re: Urgent update .
Further analysis shows that 66 users of JowettGallery do not have an account with the same email address in JowettTalk. So perhaps you start to see the problem faced. Although most of this could be sorted out when a user logs onto JowettTalk and they are prevented access to JowettGallery, I would like to reduce the amount of problems when the switch is thrown!
There may be users of JowettGallery without a JowettTalk account but not many.

Re: Urgent update .
Some small changes have been made today to the Jowett Internet Services Registration, Login and Update Account Details webpages to reflect increased password strength requirements. Passwords now need a mixture of uppercase, lowercase and numbers and be between 12 and 32 characters long.
This is the same as now required on JowettTalk and so you can use the same password for all three systems. Once the email address is the same on all three systems merging of the accounts can take place.
You may have to alter your password if you do not already comply.
Note that we are moving to a single sign-on and these webpages may change again in the near future to lead you into single sign-on.

It is good to see email changes taking place. As those who have done it will know, they have to wait until I activate the change. This is just further security measure to reduce any impact of any hacking that might occur. Note that the PHPBB system that JowettTalk runs on has many security features and has proved very secure in its thousands of implementations across the world.

Re: Urgent update .
To help in the single sign on process I have addeda servicethat checks everything and suggests what you should do. You need to Logon to Jowett Internet Services to use it and you will go there when you have logged in.
The service checks that the email you are registered with on JIS has a matching email address in JT and JG It checks if the user names are the same in JT and JG, and checks for more than one JG account.
At the moment it does not check that all passwords are the same, so worth doing that so as not to confuse yourself.
It also checks to see if your email address is in an affiliated club list and thus prompts you to make sure that it is. At some stage accounts will have permissions changed to restrict access in the JowettGallery, following discussions with the various clubs. Note that the member privilege given by the JIS system currently only refers to UK members as it allows access to membership details of that member. This will change soon to hopefully include all affliated club members. The Gallery privilege applies to all affliated club members.
This webpage will be part of the single sign-on and will eventually sign on to JT and JG. Currently it just has useful links to take you straight there opening JT and JG in new windows on their login pages . It is sort of single sign-on!

Re: Urgent update .
I just updated my password for Talk and the Gallery. I was unaware of the Jowett Internet Services pages, as there does not appear to be a link from either the Talk or Gallery. My bookmark takes me to the forum, so how long has JIS been up? Looks pretty good.
I used your link that checked my registration. It shows my email is associated with my user name of Srenner.
It shows the email address is listed in JCC Americas, but "is not in an affiliated club list so you should not be allowed access to the JowettGallery." Perhaps waiting for updating.
Your email address is registered in JowettGallery.
Your access to the Gallery may be reduced soon.
Not matching JowettGallery username=srenner (Looks like I forgot to cap the "s")
Now I have an email address registered in the Gallery and can sign in, but will this change? As JCC Americas is a club largely only in concept, does this count as an affiliated club? I usually have a NZ membership, so does that help or confuse? (I do not belong to JCC due to the ban on sending parts to the US.)

Re: Urgent update .
Scott,
The system sends me an email if it detects problems and I have now sorted your username mismatch.
JCCAmericas is now included in the affiliated clubs so this should show up next time you login. The system does look at all clubs, including NZ, but as far as I know you are not currently a member there. I am awaiting an updated list from Lorna.
JIS has been on line since 2010 being used for JCC UK membership renewal and then in 2012 for Basingstoke Rally booking; but has recently been given a new skin so that it works great with smartphones and large touch screens.
Note that work is continuing apace on the website, so watch for new features and services. Comments always welcome in the Website section of JowettTalk.

One of those days.
I spent 12 hours yesterday trying to solve a particularly difficult issue with Single Sign on. But at 23:00 hrs I had cracked it and had time to look at email and JowettTalk. Email revealed a request from Richard to join the forum which I duly activated. Hopefully you have read some of his amazing story. Within a few minutes of him posting that he had stood in my car when 3 years old, he had a reply. A few PMs have taken place as well.
Then another email from Doug Rath said that the Cape York 4 week off-road adventure was on, so now my mind was racing, so much so that I did not get to sleep till 4 a.m.
This morning I was greeted with a phone call from the suppliers of some parts which I had ordered a couple of months ago from the USA . So something to play with tomorrow when they arrive.
So having had four great, great bits of news in a few hours I am wrenching myself off the computer and going down the garage to finish off the crack repair with the mended welder and fresh bottle of Argon.
As I said I have cracked a problem with SSO and integrated JT with JIS, just need to complete the implementation and testing. The JIS to JG integration is virtually there as well, so I am hoping to get completed within a month.
SO PLEASE make sure you have done your access check via the JIS login and made your email address consistent, and agreeing with the club membership list..
When completed the SSO will mean you only have to enter your username and password once to open JT, JG and JIS. I am hoping too to introduce extra facilities to allow easy use of JG images in JT posts.
Shortly the registration and account management page for JG will be retired and you will only be able to access the Gallery via the JIS SSO login after passing the access check.
The registration for JIS will also change and become integrated with JT registration. It will however remain a two step process so that casual users, who may not be members of a club, can join JT easily.

Re: Urgent update .
A few people have tried the JIS registration process and it did not work due to the link being sent to them having 'activate' rather than 'Activate' in it. This is now fixed and I am sorry for the trouble it caused. It was actually planned this way to catch any wrong links when the change over was made from the old system. I thought I had tested the process, but obviously not. The testing is exaserpated by the fact that the test server is Windows (which does not recognise case) and the jowett.net server is running on Linux( which does).
Anyhow now fixed!
The new skin to the process will change again as it becomes part of the JowettTalk registration and login process. This intermediate step in the migration was there to get as many of you to register on JIS before the switch over when the access control will take over to control access to the JG and JIS.
Eventually the access control will look at the email address of the username you used to log into JT , although at the moment it looks at the email address of the JIS login. Thus it is important to get all three email addresses the same and to match the email address registered with the club you belong to.
