Panhard rod problem.
Having the car on the lift certainly let's you find problems. After fixing the gearbox mounting, I noticed the lower panhard rod rubber was distressed. The upper washer had started to move up the rod as the hole in it had become enlarged. This meant the rubber was loose and presumably had been taken a pounding on the Goodwod lanes and the speed bumps that appear everywhere these days. The washer was changed. The axle had to be carefully lifted with the jack, but at the same time applying the force at an angle so as to move the axle towards the nearside, to refit new rubbers.
