Gallery on Android

There is some help on the Gallery itself and on Jowett.net 'Help ' page; but please add more if you think it will help others. See also the Gallery & Manuals section below.

Gallery on Android

Post by Forumadmin »

You can download an app onto your Android based phone which gives good integration with the JowettGallery.

Regalandroid
Go here to download the app.
Once installed, open the app, click the left button and choose settings.

Change or select the following.
and2.jpg
and2.jpg (16.33 KiB) Viewed 1259 times
Gallery type = Gallery2
and1.jpg
and1.jpg (20.97 KiB) Viewed 1259 times
Gallery Url= http://jowett.net/gallery
Username= 'your username'
password= 'Your password'
Regal Android path = wherever you want to store data . Mine defaulted to the SD card.
RegalAndroidTempPath= usually leave as default.

Then return to the Regalandroid home screen and click 'enter gallery'. This should take to the Gallery home page. Then navigate to your home album via the 'Personal albums' folder. Unfortunately this app does not display in the explorer view but in historical order, so you need to scroll down to find your personal album.

Once you have located your album (or a TOPIC legacy project album) you can upload from your picture albums on the Android or can directly load from your camera.
Touch the left button and a menu will appear. Touch 'camera', take photo, and 'send'. you can then change the filename before uploading and choose the destination album (once again the app displays all the albums, not just the ones you have access to, so is a pain). If you do try upload to an album into which you do not have permission to do so, the system will respond with an error saying it was sent but not uploaded.

You can also create new subalbums in the selected album.

Touching the left button when a picture is displayed allows more actions.

Advanced options allows viewing with other apps and I found displayed some pictures that did not appear with Regalandroid.

Use with Android Gallery app.

Regalandroid is integrated with the Android Gallery app so that you can upload not only single photos but also multiple ones by ticking the desired photos and then sharing them using Regalandroid. (the crowned android icon)

TOPIC This album was so created and populated in just a couple of minutes with nine 3Megapixel images.

Integration with other apps
The app also allows the same multiple upload with other apps that have the 'share' facility such as 'My files'.

Re: Gallery on Android

The ReGalAndroid on my old Samsung S2 stopped working, so I uninstalled it via 'Manage Apps', and downloaded it again. But it was not in the Play appstore presented on the S2 (although it is on my new S4) so I went to http://code.google.com/p/regalandroid/downloads/list . Seems to work on the S2 as well as the S4.

Note the JowettGallery is Gallery 2 not Gallery 3 as might be assumed by the picture in the previous post.
