Another Javelin Restoration in Progress

Post by Jack »

Morning all,

I noticed a photo of a Javelin shell arriving with http://www.chisbon.com so sent them a note asking for more details, ever conscious that members are often looking for companies we can rely on for good quality work on our cars.

Adrian has very kindly offered JCC members a 10% discount on his hourly rate, you can contact him through the website.

Adrian at Chisbon sent back a number of photos of the restoration work he is doing for Roger Baker, looks like he has encountered many of the same problems that are common to many Javelin restoration projects.

I understand that Roger is going to be taking over shortly to do the finishing off himself, great to see yet another restoration project on the go and members putting cars back on the road that have been parked up for some time. Adrian tells me that Roger learned to drive in this very car, so clearly some sentimental importance to putting this car back where it should be.

Hopefully Chris will send me the handover photos as the restoration continues, and we can get some more info on the car from Roger.

If anyone wants to get in touch with them, link is above, they have been very quick to respond via e-mail and answered a number of my questions about the work.

Hi Paul,

Try refreshing the page once you have logged in to the Gallery, I find that running one window or tab with the forum and another with the Gallery logged in works for me.

Uploading photos is straightforward once you have done a few :) First thing is to go to your album, which will inevitably be Paul Wilks, under "Personal Albums" on the left hand side, then top left you have "Jowett Gallery" "Search the Gallery" and "Advanced Search" written above a drop-down menu which is "album actions"

In the drop-down of album actions is "Add Items" and then an upload screen comes up. Click on Browse and it should open a window in which you will see the files in your computer, select where the appropriate picture is saved, then click "Add Items" right at the bottom.

I will at some stage write this up with a page by page highlighted guide to make it as easy as possible to do, honestly after the first couple it isn't difficult. I have more trouble logging in with the right password than uploading pictures!

A few more pictures from just a few days ago, the car being returned to Roger for completion.

Looks like we might have a very nice car on the road soon enough, hopefully Roger can share a few pictures as he heads for the home straight with this project.
