A busy month for Jowetteering, of which the highlight was the Basingstoke
Rally (well done and thank you to the organising team – the N-W Section had a great
time). There was a good attendance from our Section and it was great to see Dennis and
Audrey Mitchell there. The only ‘negative’ was Brian and Pat Lord’s problem with their
Javelin but I am aware that there is an action plan in place to get it back on the road.
Yesterday (8th June), Sue and I met up with Paul and Alan Brierley (both in
our Eights) at the North Rode Vintage Rally for a good day out relaxing in the sun.
James Griffiths, a member from Hyde, passed by and informed us he hopes to have his
Bradford on the road ‘very soon’. It would be great to see it at Rushton Spencer in
September. Finally, there was much reminiscing when former member, Yorkshireman
Frank Livesey, hove into view - much of it unintelligible to the Cheshire set! Paul
Wilks’s Javelin – the ‘Yellow Peril’ - was previously owned by Frank though he was
unaware of its current colour (or apparently the colour as was when he sold it!).
Next weekend we are at the Knot for Yvonne and Alan’s Golden Wedding
anniversary – still a long way to go to match the Jowett Car Club’s 90th!
Finally, we are developing a plan for the 2015 National Rally to be held in our
Section’s area – more details to follow soon...
