Javelin accelerator pedal KBT 726

Post by robert lintott »

The Javelin KBT 726 is for sale on ebay with an interesting interior picture . It shows the front floor and main pedals , with a bracket/swivel bolted to the floor , to the right of the brake pedal. One irritating feature of all the Javelins I have owned /driven is the lack of sensitivity /feel of the Javelin accelerator pedal which seems to be related to the poor leverage of the mechanism inside the car. I have never been able to adjust it to make the effort lighter and more progressive . Is this bracket some kind of adaptation to solve the problem ? If so it would be great to know of others experience and whether such an item is available ?

I must say that after driving the Javelin for any distance it is a great relief to drive almost any other car with a " normal " pedal!. The KBT picture can be seen on the ebay item , details in Chris Spencers "Cars and Parts " forum item "javelins for sale June 13 "

Hi Bob,

Worth asking the seller a question perhaps, but to me it looks like a fitting which has dropped down, should in fact be a pedal on top of the original fitting.

I've not seen one on another Javelin, but it looks straightforward enough to duplicate - perhaps worth a bit of experimenting, if you got the length and angle right I don't see a reason why it would be a problem to fit something to your car.

Can't say I've ever really noticed it on the Javelin, I always find the Javelin pedal markedly easier to control and use for longer periods than the Jupiter, which seems to require a bit more strength to put it exactly where you want it, though our Jupiter pedals have two springs instead of one I believe.

Jack.

Jack, yes I see what you mean . I thought it might be bolted to the floor with a pivot and lever resting on the existing pedal , but it does look "up in the air " rather ,so could be attached to the pedal even though there is a pivot . I will try the vendor . The car is advertised in Jowetteer but the ed does not have the vendors address as you will see . regards Bob

The vendor has replied ,see the Q/A section of the Ebay item quoted in Cars and Parts. It is not an extension but the pedal itself . End of story! Bob
