Taken in a part-repaired state to the 2010 Centenary Rally, returned to a roadworthy state by 2013.

I am sorry to have missed all the fun of the rally yet again, but as I had only got my Long Four back on the road in the last few days and had not had the opportunity to get any test mileage ' on the clock ', I was not anxious to make a 200 mile round trip 'on the offchance'.

As a consolation my son and I took the car to a local rally, the Laughton Cuckoo Fair, about 17 miles away, happily without incident.

Whilst there we prevailed on the President of the local 4 x 4 club to let us use their Land Rover Test Hill. The plan was to recreate the picture on page 28 of 'The Complete Jowett History'.

I am pleased to say we managed to get to the top of the Test Hill - and VERY nearly over it - and a video has been posted on YouTube, (see - Jowett long four 7hp testing on the hills).

A photograph will be posted here, once we have mastered the technology!

I think the 4 x 4 boys were as amazed as I was that an 83 year old, 7hp car could achieve this.

As I was leaving the showground I was approached by a gentleman who introduced himself by saying 'my dad used to own this car'. As I did not get any paperwork with the car when I bought it in 1966, and as the Surrey records have all been destroyed, you can imagine I was very pleased to meet him. He has promised to check if there are any family photos of the car.

It's a small world!
