Speedometers

Post by ian Howell »

I notice from a sales advert currently offered on ebay, that the 1929 Jowetts were described as being supplied with Stewart speedometers as standard.

Was this common practice throughout the 20's and 30's or did they sometimes fit other makes (possibly depending on current prices or availability)?

I need a speedo for my 1930 Long Four - but which make? Stewart? Smiths? other?

As long as it fits the exisiting hole, I don't mind what make or model as I can make a new recalibrated dial if necessary, but it would be nice to know the 'proper' one.
