Recent media coverage of the Battle of the Atlantic 70th anniversary reminds me that I once had a small memento of these events.
My second Javelin was first owned by Admiral Sir Max Horton who apparently purchased it about three weeks before his death. It was registered MKC 1 and sold by Carrs Motors of Hardman Street, Liverpool. It was a black E2 PD series, de Luxe model.
His signature was on the original brown log book/card. It had apparently reverted to his daughter about 18 months after his death, presumably after the estate complications had been sorted, and she in turn sold it to the owner before me.
During my ownership in about 1969 I very reluctantly sold the registration number when I was getting married and that paid the deposit for our first house.
A replacement number - 6464TU - was issued by DVLA. This number was on the car when I sold it in 1987 to an electrician in the Hastings area, together with ABOUT TWO TONS OF SPARES (Really!).
I noticed recently that 6469 TU now appears on a Lexus so I guess the Javelin was sold/scrapped many years ago.
