CA Lillicrap, 1951 Rally Des Alpes

Why not tell us about your car (start with a picture) and say what you have done with it; either restoring or using it over the years. Restoration of particular parts is of special interest. Club members can have their space on in their Personal Album to do this.

CA Lillicrap, 1951 Rally Des Alpes

Post by Forumadmin »

Keith,

please find attached. I'm afraid i haven't found any pictures but a quick google did come out with confirmation of the entry, see link, my Grandfather was CA Lillicrap, entry number 35 in the 1951 Rally Des Alpes Francaises . http://www.teamdan.com/archive/www2/mis ... iscra.html

Please let me know if there is any intention to use it as I know my Uncle would be delighted.

regards

Dominic Graham

This is a really good read, especially for someone who has driven nearly all these roads in a Jowett in the same way. One thing to consider is how bad these roads were then. Only one of the passes, the Gavia , bears any resemblence to how it was. They are now tarmac with armco. To wear out a set of tyres in 1500 miles is going some.
