We are trying to find out the correct arrangement for the glove box in Peter's PB Javelin, E0 PB 9622.
Note the flat bottom rail for the hinges. Was this model fitted with a glove box lid originally? The one fitted does not look correct.
Early glove box.

Re: Early glove box.
My Javelin is PB 10100, and as a De LUxe it has a wooden dashboard, and it has a Glove Box with a locking lid. The Owner's Manual has drawings of the dashboard for both De Luxe and Standard, but I cannot see if the Standard Glove Box has a lid.

Re: Early glove box.
Hi there,
I think you are correct in that the glove box lid does not look quite right. We will need to obtain a photo of a similar lid from a PA Javelin. perhaps Chris Cole could help, as he has one?
Technically, I don't believe Peter's car is a Standard. It is what is known as a 'PA' model, although it carries the PB title. Jowett's decided to introduce two versions of Javelin during 1950, the Standard and De-luxe. I have some old Jowetteer's that explain the model definitions when the differences were more widely known by those who worked in the factory. Prior to this point, there was only one version of Javelin, as shown by Peter's example. Our green Javelin, NKJ 352, is EO/PB/10866D and is a De-luxe with the wooden dash panel. Robin Fairservice mentiones that his Javelin is even earlier, as EO/PB/10100 with a wooden dash and is a De Luxe.
I will ask Chris Cole, who has a PA Javelin, if he could photograph his glove box lid?
All the best,
David

Re: Early glove box.
From the largely unmolested Javelin we went to on Friday night, we now have a replacement glovebox lid - we think this is appropriate for a 1950 Standard? Seems to match other cars of the same age at the rally.

Note also the ashtrays in the doors - the handles appear to match the Standard bumpers, and based on how they were fitted we suspect these were original - anyone know much about Javelin ashtrays? They are a very neat extra.
Can anyone confirm?
Jack.
