See http://jowett.org/jowettnet/dt/tech/mods/JUp3dyn.jpg for electrics and http://jowett.org/jowettnet/dt/tech/mod ... rdrive.htm for mechanics of the overdrive installation on NKD.

This was used successfully for many years for touring, circuit racing, hill climbs and a number of very long marathons across Europe and Africa. Main advantages were quick gear change out of corners and ability to get revs right on long hill climbs in the Alps. Also I was able to put in or out in about half an hour so could see what was best for a particular circuit during practice. Sure there is a power loss and you need to overcome the high angles of the rear prop. I also ran for a season with a Javelin axle which gave better pull on hill climbs. Wouldn't it be nice to have a mixture of ratios to play with? One additional advantage is the overdrive in the rear gives better corner weight distribution.

If anybody knows where I can get hold of a 4.1 cw&p set please let me know!!!
