Tool kits

Post by ian Howell »

The mention of tool kits under the 'Javelin' section prompts me to ask were any tools, apart from a jack, issued as a kit with the pre-war cars? And was it only one make of jack, or just whatever was available at the right price?

If so are there any details/pictures available?

I have a selection of tools of the 'right' vintage but I would like to know which ones - if any - are appropriate for my 1930 Long Four.

Hi Ian,

The 1934 Illustrated price list of Spares and Replacements has this:-

I haven't any handbooks downstairs, they're in the loft, but perhaps someone with a 1930 copy might just have a look for you. Perhaps there's a list of tools in it.

Tony.

Tony: -

Just what I was looking for! Well nearly.

It had never ocurred to me to look in the Spare Parts list for tools. I have a copy of the 1930 list so I will look, but not tonight.

I have just fitted and tested a new brake master cylinder in my wife's Frontera. Brand new 'cut price', buyer collected and not a trace of gold plate - only £275!!!!

A bath now to cool off!
