Hi,
I haven't owned a Jowett for many years now but I still remember my '53 Javelin with affection. I now run a '78 Reliant Scimitar and an 04 Jaguar S Type.
What prompted me to join this forum was seeing a really beautiful Jupiter at the Coupe Florio in Saint-Brieuc at the end of August. I waited for a while to speak to the owner but without meeting him (or her). Does the owner live near Saint-Brieuc? Whilst I had my Javelin a colleague working on the same power station had a Jupiter which he exchanged for a Porsche 356.He gave me a pair of cylinder heads which allegedly had been prepared for one of the Jupiters which ran at le Mans. I was transferred to Birmingham and sold the Javelin leaving the heads with my father. Without asking me he came to the conclusion that I would have no further use for them and gave them to the dustbin men. I tried to ascertain where they might be but without success.
I now live in Brittany and the Jupiter is the only Jowett I have seen in France in spite of having visited many classic car meets.
Alan Fretwell.

- Your interest in the forum: Currently have Scimitar SE6A and Jaguar S Type. Owned a Javelin in the 60s. Saw a beautiful red Jupiter at The Saint-Brieuc (Brittany) Coupe Florio last weekend and wondered to whom it belonged. When I had the Javelin I was given a pair of cylinder heads for a Jupiter to the le Mans spec . I was promoted and moved to Birmingham and my father had a clearout of my garage resulting in the heads going into the dustbiI never succeeded in recovering them.

Re: introduction
Some interesting cars you have owned.
Shame about the heads.
Did you take any pictures of the Jupiter? Was it green with strakes down the wing? If so, it is the first production Jupiter sold.

Re: introduction
Hello,
I am just joining this club in sight of my ancestors. I have been researching and have found that I am related to both of the brothers that started making the Jowett cars, motorcycles. My grandfathers name was Fredrick Jowett and moved from England to Canada. I was told that I was named after a great uncle. I hope to make the trip to England next year for further research. I find this very interesting. I think the cars are amaizing. Thank you for this honor of joining this club. Regards,

Welcome Bill. If you are coming over at the end of May why not come to the Rally in Basingstoke, Hampshire? There will be a couple of hundred club members there.http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2510
