Jowetts in Argentina

Post by Forumadmin »

I was waiting to cross under the circuit of Goodwood on Sunday when Jack Forest-Greene jumped in the Javelin to say his father was the main agent in Argentina. They were already to start the business when Peron stopped all imports. He has offered to seek out all things Jowett now in Argentina. Watch this space.

Coincidentally - and nothing to do with Jowetts - I have a contact in Argentina who is very active in the 'Old Car' scene.

When I mentioned your encounter to him, I received the following (I have left it 'as is' for the flavour!): -

'Jakie Forest Greene is a well known expert in antiques or old cars, now involved in a project of replicar Mercedes SSK, for sell.

Before WWII his father was chief service of Bentley, and surely could be related with other English makes. A family and a man always related with cars, races, and so on. By the '60-'70 Jakie managed the Argentine Peugeot Racing Team, with big succes.

Sadly, Eric Forest Greene (Jakie's father) died in a sport car race near earlier fifties, on a terrific accident, where car and driver fired and went burned. I was more or less 10 years old and I remember very well those images.

I didn't met Mr. Jakie Forest Greene personally, but surely some onf my friends do, so if you are interested to be in touch with him, I can ask for his e-maill adress. He lives such as 500km from my house, in or near the capital -Buenos Aires- of our country. I am sure he speaks and writes English very well, not like me.'

Like you said before - small world!

This amazing site just goes from strength to strength. Don't know why many more Jowetteers have not registered. P.S. Sorry to have missed you at Beaulieu Ken, but wasn't the double site a triumph.
