Actually, there’s nothing to report this month, except for a Festive Greeting to all from the Section: ‘wishing you all that you would with yourselves’, so here’s a reminder:

Sunday, March 19th: meet at the Midland Railway Centre, Swanwick Junction, at
10.30; entry fee is £5 per car, including rides on the trains for two occupants (children
free). The round trip takes forty-five minutes, but because their two steam engines are on
loan elsewhere on that day, they will be diesel hauled. It is the 25th anniversary of the
railway and there are different items to view at the museum site. The visit will be followed
by lunch at the nearby Newlands Inn at 2p.m. Swanwick Junction is off B6016: down a
narrow lane at the side of the Newlands Inn (ignore brown signs to Railway near Ripley,
as these will take you to Butterley which is down the line from Swanwick Junction).
Please let me know on 01629 822181 if you will be having lunch, or if you need more
detailed instructions on how to get there.
Sunday, April 23rd:. we are planning to visit Walton Hall (venue for our 2007 NJR
Concours); further details in April`s Jowetteer. -Doris Whitney
No report has appeared on our Sutton Hall ‘bash’ at the end of January, so I suppose
it falls to me to pen a few impressions - so here goes: dull but dry weather ... just short of
thirty attendees ... nice to welcome Jack Mitchell and his wife (Northern), Bill Lock and
Roger Sanderson (Midland), and David and Sue Mason (Sinological Sections respectively)
... raffle ... premier of Section’s DVD ‘Nostalgic Snippets’ well received ... Editor’s
notorious quiz ... lots of laughs and much banter ... lively anticipation of our National
Rally in `07 ... 04.30pm all went home ... a good ‘do’ ... roll on September!
