Final preparations taking place in Mike Allfrey's garage. Fuel guage was not working because the clip holding the panel light had fallen onto the terminal. Clip is now insulated.
Garage could not do the tracking; so Mike found two eight foot lengths of straight steel that we pressed against each tyre and a rule, so that we could measure the track parallelism.
Ted Cockrell is master polisher of the original paintwork on the Javelin.
Unfortunately we may need the windscreen wipers so will have to renew.
Looking foward to a meeting tomight of about 25 Jowett members at Mike's house.

We are setting off for the rally tomorrow with the full team,Jup,Jav and Bradford. It's about a 7 hr drive for the Javelin.
We have Bill And Marlene Lumb traveling with us.
The Jup has decided to drop oil from the left rear axle seal so I will have to fix that today.
Bloody thing is jealous of all the time spent on the javelin.

We should be in Armidale on Thursday morning. We didn't have 25 Jowett people at home tonight ,only our Yorkshire guests the Lumb's and ourselves, but still a good time.A last minute inner oil seal on the Jupiter diff and a leaking oil pressure guage line on the Javelin. As for the Bradford ,there's nothing to go wrong with them ,is there.

Hello all of you Down Under. Please keep up the postings about the Rally. I personally am finding them a good read. I'll bet a lot more of us will be able to 'live' the experience through what you all post on this site, even though we're not actually there.
Remember all this will be archived for the future.
Wishing you all a safe journey,
Tony.

Its over
. but we all had a hectic time. The format is quite different to UK JAW with the inevitable reception barby on Friday night, the concourse followed by brilliant historical and foundry museum visits and AGM and dinner on Saturday, with observation run and driving tests and presentation dinner on Sunday, optional museum visit on Monday.
Hopefully we will have reports from the exploits of all getting to, during and returning from the rally.
This report from my Best man's place in Newcastle NSW.
Many, many thanks to all the very hospitable Aussies who put up with the poms jibes during the event.

I think everyone had a good time and it was great to have you all.
The 10 hour drive home and a 7AM start this morning in my buisness, has made me so tired ,I just went to sleep holding a glass of orange juice and spilt it all in my lap.The family are up stairs laughing about it still.

Both the Jav and Jupe made it home without any trouble except a bit of overheating with the Javelin on the long hills.
About 670 miles completed over the event from home to home.
After 5 yrs in the shed the Javelin had a lot of work done in the run up to the rally and even on the night before we were still working with the help of our guest Bill Lumb. There was no time for proper road testing so as Bill said ,the Brakes were crap ,the steering was crap and the gear box was crap, but it got us there. When we bled the brakes again they got quite good for the trip home.

Our Bradford was a big hit and won the best Bradford award.
My son Chris won the motorkahana with me taking second, we had the Jupiter flying and the tyres protesting on the cement surface.
I don't know what the revs were,I was to buisy to look.
A great rally and it was good to put faces to the names we had heard about from overseas.
